Autism Unites is a new student organization that serves as a “hub” for all things autism on and off campus. The purpose of Autism Unites is to support the development and growth of people with autism by providing mentorship and connections to resources at Sam Houston State University and the surrounding areas. Autism Unites members volunteer to provide mentorship and be educated on resources for their mentee.
Our primary goals are:
● Foster a community that raises awareness for autistic people and provides
opportunities and resources for autistic people for academic and career growth
● To provide autistic people a mentor that will help support them as they build their
marketable and social skills
● Make a “hub” where autistic people and their advocates can come to learn about
resources on and off campus to help support them
● Encourage one-on-one relationships between mentors and mentees
Autism Unites is currently partnered with Texas Autism Academy (TAA) to offer workshops and
science labs to their upper class students during the Fall 2024 semester.
Autism Unites is
looking for new members, mentors, mentees, and anyone else who is interested in helping us
with our mission.
